End of 2011 Term 1

The 1^st of April meeting will signify the end of the 2011 first term and the beginning of the school holidays. A fun program has been lined for all on this evening.

From the 15^th to the 18^th of April, our scouts who will be travelling to Sweden in July this year will be attending a preparation camp. The Scouts who will be part of the 2011 Zimbabwe Contingent are :- Lloyd Nyakuyaka, Takudzwa Mujuru, Tatenda Rateiwa, Laidah Mwale and Lainah Machemba. They will fly our nation’s flag high at this year’s Jamboree.

When the second term commences, the first major event that we will be preparing for is the Cooking Competition. Year in year out, this is the event that all the children look forward to. Funding permitting, all Cub Scouts and Scouts will take part in this year’s Cooking Competition.

Another major highlight for the coming term is the Annual camp in Nyanga which will be held in August.

First joint meeting

Friday was our first joint meeting of 9th (Emerald Hill) and 126th (St Joseph's) at Rowallan Hall, Kensington. We are now running with: Troop: The combined troop has 19 Scouts, with three patrols: Wolves (9th), Rhinos (9th) and Sables (126th). Pack: The Pack (9th only) has 10 cubs in two sixes. Colony: The Colony (9th only) has 3 Beavers.

Well the annual first aid comp came and is gone. The Adjudicators were happy with the progress that the youths in Scouting have made. 9^th Harare EHCH Scout Group participated as well as 126^th St Josephs. This was our first competition on our own and gave us the platform to assess what we have been doing for the last couple of weeks.

Am very happy that the Scouts participated, had fun and learnt something. Hopefully they can keep the skills learnt and enrich their lives. Next is the cooking competition but before we get there loads of fun & learning by doings is in store.

First meeting at a new venue

Today we hold our first group meeting @ 96^th Kensington Scout Hall, Lezard Avenue, Milton Park.

Next week St Joseph’s will start joining us for combined group meetings.
